Unintended Adventures

Odd and ends

this has been the longest gap in building so far. Hopefully there are not too many more of these. I spent a few hours today getting some little things wrapped up. I got the aileron cables installed, root rib riveted in, fuel cap assembly finished, and got the pitot tube assembly fitted up. My kit uses the new style pitot tube from RANS.

The next steps are getting the pitot/static lines ran as well as the flap cable  I also need to run some fuel lines before I start installing some skins that will make access to the wing more restricted than it is presently. Hoping July will have some more building in it.

RE: Pitot mount for Dynon..make sure you pre drill rivet holed in tube before you cover..also, be careful positioning inspection hole so you have access to the bracket for riveting, and can fit the rivet gun thru the access hole. Ask me how I know..that’s why my bracket is mounted on the outside front leading edge of the wing. The other reason I mounted the bracket outside, it allowed 2 more inches of probe extension forward of the wing,. There have been some reports that the Dynon probe does not extend far enough in front of the leading edge to get out of the “bow wave” that develops in front of the wing in some configurations, and gives wrong pressure readings. Ask RANS about this.

    • Thanks for the note. I hadn’t decided on using a different pitot than the RANS one, but it is probably easier to do now than after it is built. I’m thinking the only advantage is for AOA. Are you using a Dynon pitot?
